Among the many wonderful composers who created Great American Songbook, I would have to name Cole Porter as my personal favorite. His tunes are perfused with moods of mystery and romance, and the unpredictable motions of melody and harmony give rise to all kinds of wild flights of imagination. I suppose that is why so many of the great jazz artists have chosen his songs to perform, interpret, and record. "Night and Day" is one of the most popular among jazz musicians and there some great versions I have fallen in love with over the years- Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Bill Evans, Joe Henderson, Stan Getz, to name a few. But I don't think they have drunk the well dry quite yet!
